Sewing Tuition

Sewing tuition is a great way to give yourself some basic skills and develop a passion for crafts for the rest of your life. Just like riding a bike, it’s something you never forget.

This tuition is suitable for adults and children, so get in touch if you have any questions.

How Does it Work?

My basic sewing tuition course provides experience and skills in measuring, marking, cutting, pinning, hand sewing and machine sewing in a 1-to-1 learning situation, to ensure you have a grasp of the basic skills and can learn at your own pace.

Tuition is available in blocks of weekly 90 minute sessions over 6 weeks. Tuition is held in the Funkiyoo studio in Prestwick where we have all materials and equipment to hand, and we can agree times and dates that suit your schedule. I'll supply the materials to get you started.

Everyone learns at their own rate and this is where 1-to-1 tuition really helps. Before we start, we'll agree what you'd like to learn and I'll tailor the sessions to make sure that's what we concentrate on.

What Does it Cost?

A six-week course of weekly 90-minute tuition sessions costs £150 and you keep everything you’ve made. This is the most cost-effective approach, effectively giving you one free session over the pay-as-you-go cost for the same number of sessions.

If you're not able to commit to the full six sessions, you can pay-as-you-go at £30 per 90-minute session.

Want to Learn to Sew with Friends?

If you would like to learn with some friends, the studio can accomodate up to 3 people in each session, so you can learn together. It's great fun, and there's a discount if there's more than one of you.

Knitting & Crochet Tuition

Knitting and crochet tuition is a great way to learn basic skills. Just like riding a bike, it’s something you'll never forget.

How Does It Work?

My knitting and crochet tuition course provides experience and skills in basic stitches, casting on, casting off and reading a simple pattern, to ensure you have a grasp of the fundamental skills and can learn at your own pace.

Tuition is available in blocks of weekly 90 minute sessions over 4 weeks. The tuition is held at the Funkiyoo studio in Prestwick where we'll have all the materials and equipment you’ll need, and we can agree times and dates that suit your schedule.

Everyone learns at their own rate. During the 4 weeks I’ll aim to cover as wide a range of skills and knowledge as possible.

What Does it Cost?

The course comprises four 90 minute tuition sessions that we can arrange suitable weekly times for, and costs £95 in total. You keep everything you’ve made and any needles you have been using throughout the course, so you can keep going afterwards.

If you can't commit to 4 sessions up front, you can always pay-as-you-go for £25 per session.

About me

I’m a mother of three in Ayrshire and some of my hobbies are sewing, knitting and crochet – when I get time for hobbies, that is. I’ve now put my hobbies and passion to good use to teach basic craft skills so you can experience the enjoyment that sewing, knitting or crochet can bring too.

I’ve seen first-hand the enjoyment, sense of achievement and sheer excitement that people, especially children, get from making something themselves, and many times over. That’s where the idea for sewing, knitting and crochet tuition came from. Through 1-to-1 tuition, or learning with friends and family, you can get a taste of the possibilities that crafts can offer and for many it’s these little experiences that give you a passion for the rest of your life.

As you can imagine, as a mother of three, I have plenty of experience and patience and I’m Disclosure Scotland PVG-certified for your peace of mind.
